This is a Douglas C-47 Dakota Mark IV, SAAF 6832. It was manufactured in Oaklahoma City in 1943 with serial number 12478. It was purchased under lend lease by the RAF on 9 Feb 1944 as KG- 443. It was flown to South Africa on 26 Feb 1944 and recoded 6832 K-OD, and was used by 28, 25, 44 and 35 Squadrons. It was modified to Mark IV standard in 1986. It was handed over to the SAAF museum on 30 Dec 1992. Last flown on 3 Mar 1995 and has a total of 16282,2 flying hours.

It is currently being restored at Ysterplaat AFB in Cape Town.
