Satellite dish with solar panels an a LiFePO4 battery

20221029_120805.jpg Allan ZS1AL composing a reply message on the IARU message formThumbnailsVideo - Signal check and receiving message over QO-100 Satellite

The system takes about 10 minutes to set up. The vertical alignment remains about the same (if the dish is still level) and the horizontal alignment can be roughly \"tuned\" by listening to the strength of the signal (James had pre-checked the direction using Google maps for that location in relation to a nearby building).

Note the modified LMB receiver and placement.

Everything is running off batteries, with the solar panels feeding the LiFePO4 battery under the dish. So zero Internet or grid power was used for this exercise.
