$Although a \ satellite\ is being used, it is merely performing the role of a radio repeater. The uplink from our side and the downlink in the UK and elsewhere are all driven by radio signals alone. The laptop and software is converting audio which passes through the \ grey box\ where the radio signal is generated from a PlutoSDR device and the frequency is stepped up to the frequency that the satellite uses.$
